We have been successfully doing this, but it needs extensive research (mostly are try and error) for hours and hours. I am doing the maintenance for several factories which need to record machine operations using barcode. To deploy a single PC beside each machine is not affordable in term of investment, maintenance and also energy consumption. ![]() We have started to use the L230 with hardy, then jaunty, then. Each time a box lost its power and thus its linux session too, there is no possibility for this box to re-connect with its host - it seems the Vspace rejectignore the reconnect request. To make the system working normally again, the host must be rebooted and also many of the other not interrupted L230s need to be switch on-off. Which VSpace version VSpace version 3.1.3 r7613 (a little bit old and not offered for download at ncomputing site anymore) address this problem but supports only Lucid in Linux family. The newer version of VSpace has more severe bugs: - vSpace-L-3.1.3-r7929: often fail to recognize USB devices. Space-L-3.1.4-r11465 is the latest version at this time will connect USB devices attached at client as host device. ![]() B. Lucid doesnt support session reconnect It seems the VSpace rely on Linux session reconnect which is not supported anymore in Lucid (according to their VSpace readme). But if a session is terminated by OS, then VSpace can accept the reconnect session from the L230 devices. Also we just need to power onoff the LS230 boxes only, not the whole system. Unfortunately, Lucid sets the timeout for idle session at about 5 minutes (not sure, only from experience). But on certain hosts the timeout can stretch until 10-15 minutes, making the user must wait too long to be able to work again. C.Timeoutd helps To shorten the timeout for idle session install timeoutd. I set the idle timeout at 1 minute and the boxes can reconnect after 2 minutes. Thanks for sharing. Before installing Ncomputing in Ubuntu please read the product release notes for the kernel supported. I too have had problems with sessions after being disconnected during power failures. Al::::1 It logs out local users after a minute of inactivity, but doesnt log out the disconnected nComputing session.
